Visualizações11Ver másThe study aimed to identify the knowledge of adolescents, residents in an area where the Family Health Strategy is present, about the vaccination calendar and acquired protection. The nature of this inquiry was quantitative, sectional and it was developed through home inquiry, from 2008 March to April. The data had been typed and processed by using the Epi-Info software. It was noted that the adolescents in this study were unaware of the recommended vaccines present in the Ministry of Health calendar. Considering that the study was carried out in Family Health Strategy environment and being the vaccine a priority action, it was expected to find a population more aware on the vaccination calendar.

Visualizações10Ver másThis qualitative study aimed at learning the masculine conception of paternity and understanding the masculine strategies to cope the legal, social and affective pressures of this process. The collection of information was done through semi-structured interview with eight adolescents from Porto Alegre - RS, Brasil, ranging between 15 and 19 years old, who experienced paternity. The interpretation and analysis were based on the content analysis. From the analysis of these youngsters' reports the following categories have emerged: Adolescents Relationship; Paternity and Gender; and, Meaning of Being a Father. The attentive look to paternity in adolescence brings to light the comprehension of issues regarding the masculine exclusion in objective life experiences marked by the commitment with paternity.

Visualizações9Ver másIt was evaluated knowledge, attitude and practice concerning contraceptive pills and preservatives among teenagers at a public University of São Paulo. A questionnaire was applied for 295 students. We verified that teenagers presented a positive attitude as to contraceptive practices because 92,6% of them said that adolescents should use contraceptive methods, and among those who had already initiated their sexual activities, 82% answered that they always used some type of contraceptive during their sexual intercourses. They showed higher knowledge than practice. Comparing the pill to preservative, we noticed that adolescents presented a greater knowledge and practice regarding preservatives. It was concluded that although they have corrects knowledge and practice, they need modified some of their practices for an effective contraception.
