Views14See moreNursing staff is subject to lesions in the back due to ergonomic factors and inadequate posture. A specific educational proposal for nursing personnel was elaborated with the objective of helping to reduce these lesions. This study presents the development and topics of this educational strategy that was constructed from an analysis of the work environment and of the activities engaged in by this personnel. Themes relative to the anatomy and biomechanics of the vertebral column were presented, as well as general posture orientations, specific ergonomic aspects of nursing tasks and considerations about the movement and transportation of patients.

Views6See moreEl estudio tuvo por objetivo evaluar los sintomas osteomusculares, la calidad de vida y las tareas percibidas como las más fatigosas para los trabajadores de un Servicio de Transporte de Pacientes dei Ayuntamiento de una ciudad dei interior de São Paulo. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó un cuestionario compuesto por datos demográficos y ocupacionales; un instrumento adaptado dei "Nordic Questionnaire"; un cuestionario de evaluación de la calidad de vida (SF 36) y la escala de BORG. De los participantes, el 82% refirió algún tipo de dolor osteomuscular en los últimos 12 meses. La calidad de vida se presentó comprometida en los aspectos dolor, aspectos sociales y vitalidad. Los trabajadores creen que todas las actividades relacionadas ai transporte de pacientes exigen grandes esfuerzos en 10 que se refiere a comprometer el sistema osteomuscular.

Views13See moreA high rate of musculoskeletal disorders in members of the nursing team is observed in the literature. The use of special devices such as the bath chair has reduced the risk of back injuries in these workers and has also provided the patient with greater safety as well as comfort. The aim of the present study was to assess the ergonomic characteristics of a bath chair utilized in a hospital. Separate questionnaires were applied for the nurses and the patients. The bath chair accessories presented several ergonomic problems. The perceived physical exertion according to the Borg-CR10 Scale indicated that a high level of exertion was required to manipulate the equipment (8.33).

Views13See moreThis study analyzes the prevalence of work accidents among nursing staff in the HUB, occurred from July 2002 July 2003, in order to dimensionate the magnitude of the problem and to propose preventive actions. It is an approach based on the qualitative method of the exploratory-description type. 68 Internal Communications of Work Accidents (CIATs) were identified. The manipulation of cutting and piercing material corresponds to the 62.38% of the activities that caused accidents. 52.94% of the accidents occurred in the morning. Of the professionals accidented, 76.47% are of the feminine sex. The category nursing auxiliary suffered 26.47% of the accidents. The Medical Clinic and the Centro de Pronto Atendimento (CPA) registered, each one, 11.76% of the accidents. The hands were the regions of the body more attacked, with 63.20% of the cases.
